Where are you living? / where do you live?

It would depend on the context. If you are meeting someone for the first time & you were curious about where they lived, you should ask, "Where vì chưng you live?"

Let's say you've met up with an old friend from the town the two of you grew up in, và you haven't seen this person in a while. You're not sure if they still live in the same place as they did when you were a child, so you could ask, "Where are you living?" -OR- "Where bởi vì you live now?"

Another context I can think of is if you're talking with someone about their living conditions, & they mention something about getting evicted (it's a sad example, I know). You could ask that person, "Well, where are you living now?"

I would say "Where are you living?" is not said too frequently except for specific contexts. They vì chưng pretty much mean the same thing, but "Where vì you live?" is far more common, and you can use that in most situations.

“Where vị you live?” is speaking in more of a general, permanent sense. Usually assuming that the person hasn’t moved or is relatively settled.

“Where are you living?” implies a more temporary sense, such as if someone has traveled a lot, if they have recently moved, or asking about “right now” specifically.

It’s kind of a small difference, và anyone would understand you either way.

This might be quite specific khổng lồ my country or region in my country (Australia) but khổng lồ me, neither of those are what I would say.

"Where are you living?" implies someone is transient or has moved around a lot. This might be the case sometimes, but isn't usually.

"Where bởi vì you live?" to me implies a class judgment. I would expect lớn hear this from someone richer than me as a way of passive aggressively calling attention to lớn the fact that I live in a less wealthy và less prestigious area. However, I don't think this is the case for most English speakers, so you should go with this one.

I say & hear "Whereabouts bởi vì you live?" This implies we are simply interested in the geographical region with no intention to lớn judge. It's a bit friendlier. I would say this lớn someone from my city. If they were from another đô thị with which I am very familiar, I would say "Whereabouts vày you live in (city)?" If they were from a different đô thị in my country with which I am not at all familiar with, I would say "Whereabouts are you from?"

If they are from another country and only here in vacation, I would say "Where are you from?"
