I googled a bit about what $ceAgNO3 + AlCl3$ will yield & found out the following:

$ce3AgNO3 + AlCl3 -> Al(NO3)3 + 3AgCl$

Why is that? I know that $ceAg$ is higher up in the reactivity series than $ceAl$ but that does not make sense to me in this problem. Is it because $ceCl$ is just one when $ceNO3$ is multiple?

I think the reaction proceeds because the formation of AgCl(s) is enthalpically favored. Molecular cohesion (enthalpy) is greater in AgCl than in AgNO3, thus promoting its formation. How bởi I know that? Well, it seems AgCl is less ionic than AgNO3 since it is insoluble in water.

It"s easy lớn see that the fact AgCl is insoluble in water implies that it has a low Ksp in water. If someone can predict and quantify the solubility sản phẩm of AgCl in water from first principles, then that"s another story, but the explanations offered only rely on observation (experiment) khổng lồ quantify the Ksp.
